James Green, Jr.

James Green, Jr., along with his twin brother, John, was born in Charleston, South Carolina to the late James Green, Sr. and Selina White Green. He was the first son of seven siblings. He and his family were members of Holy Trinity Reformed Episcopal Church. James' formal education started at Buist Elementary School and Burke High School in Charleston, South Carolina. After graduating from high school, he and his twin brother decided to serve their country. They entered the United States Army, serving together in Texas and Europe.

After their departure from the Army, they entered South Carolina College (University) in Orangeburg, South Carolina to pursue degrees. Together, they became members of South Carolina State's Football Team! Today, James remains an avid fan of "Bulldog" football. He received his B.S. Degree in Agriculture with a minor in Science from South Carolina State College.

James met his wife, Mary, while they were students at South Carolina State College. They were married and are the parents of two sons. The family relocated to Columbia, South Carolina and in 1978 they became members at Saint john Baptist Church. James' work history included positions at Ethyl Corporation, Orangeburg, South Carolina and Lindau Chemicals, Inc., Columbia, South Carolina. He retired in 1999.

James Green, Jr. is a combination of steel and velvet because he is kind and gentle, yet tough and strong. He is a devoted husband and father, and, an honorable man of faith and sound judgment. Life is a miraculous journey to James, for which he is always grateful and humbled.
