The Quilting Ministry

VISION:
The Saint John Baptist Church Quilting Ministry was established to offer an additional opportunity for fellowship and giving. This ministry builds on the historical role of the church as a center of life in the African American community by promoting purposeful work within the congregation and providing visible service to the community.

MISSION
This ministry is rooted in three biblical premises:

  1. II Corinthians 9:8-9; Acts 9:36; Proverbs 31:31; James 2:14-16; Romans 12:7.
  2. Christian women are to teach younger women. "Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good." (Titus 2:3); Proverbs 22:5-6; Proverbs 31:26.
  3. Christians are to seek and share wisdom. "Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity." (Colossians 4:5); Proverbs 16:3; 22:12; 31:25-26.

As a vehicle for Christian service, the quilting ministry aims to enhance the spirit and practice of giving to provide additional opportunities for intergenerational learning and sharing of wisdom.
