Youth Ministries

We are delighted that you are here. You have arrived at this all important section of the greatest church website in the world. Ok! I'll tone it down. However, we must admit that we are a little excited about what you are going to be seeing and reading as you navigate your way through the following pages.

This section of the Website was designed by the Youth of Saint John Baptist Church. The Website Committee wanted us to be the authors of the Youth Section. We enthusiastically accepted their invitation. We should say right here and now that at Saint John the Youth really count and we are actively involved in junior leadership roles throughout our church. We invite you and your parents to come join us for worship services, Bible study, and an endless number of events for the entire family. Of course, you can catch our Pastor on "The Saint John Hour", WFMV radio 95.3 FM on Sunday evenings at 6:30 pm.

They say that the Holy Ghost will hold you until temptation pass. We have learned at Saint John that if they close the doors on you just remember that most buildings have more windows than doors. Find a window of opportunity, work toward it until you can see yourself in it and then pray your way through it while you are on your way to victory.

We are trained and we work hard to represent our Lord, our families, our church, and our communities. When we are away we may be asked are these members of Saint John Baptist Church? That question can only be answered by asking other questions: Do they bring help? Do they bring hope? Do they bring answers? Do they give without qualifications? Do they wear the love of Jesus Christ in their hands, in their words, in their actions and in their hearts? If the answer to these questions is yes, then they must be saints from Saint John Baptist Church. Enjoy reading about us in the next few pages and more importantly, come visit us at Saint John Baptist Church. We would love to fellowship with you, your friends and your family

Education and Tutorial Ministry

SJBC participates with the South Carolina First Steps Early Childhood Program. Students from the community are invited and encouraged to take advantage of free high skilled tutorial services. Students are tutored in reading, writing, math, science and social studies. This service is available to students within the church on an as-needed basis. The Tutor makes arrangements with the parent of the student(s). Volunteers are needed for this ministry. This ministry also hosts an annual Baccalaureate service each June honoring graduates.

In addition, the Education and Tutorial Ministry volunteer as mentors and lunch buddies to the students at Watkins Nance Elementary School.

Girl Scouts

VISION:
To develop girls into productive citizens to become future leaders in society.

MISSION:
Girl scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts recognizes the key role spiritual growth plays in this mission, and that religious instruction should come from families and faith communities. In addition to camps, troop meetings and programs, girls are also encouraged to work with their religious organizations to make a commitment to serve God, and with the help of their families and religious leaders, to complete programs created by their religious organization. Presently, we are recruiting young ladies for the Senior Troop: grades 9th - 10th and Ambassador Troop: grades 11th - 12th. Girls on this level are eligible to participate in activities to earn the gold, silver and bronze Girl Scout Award. Also, scholarships are available for high school graduates. Volunteers are welcome to join the Saint John Baptist Church Girl Scout Program. For more information, please visit the Girl Scout's website at www.gssc-mm.org

God's Puppet Ministry

The GP Crew Puppet Ministry (God's Puppets) of Saint John made their debut with a play on November 10, 2002, at a fellowship dinner before a packed house at Saint John. The Ministry began with 6 puppeteers and has grown to a cast of 12. The criteria for participation in this Ministry is that one must be a member of Saint John's Sunday School and must be between the ages of 13 up to a young adult. God's Puppet Ministry started under the direction of Mrs. Cassandra Christie. In 2007, Mr. Darrell Vanderhorst became the co-director. The GP Crew has been invited to numerous events including nursing homes, banquets, conventions, state agencies, family reunions, private homes and other events where there has been a listening ear. On September 16, 2007, God's Puppet Crew performed as "The Jamaican Yams" with the Auntie Karen Foundation on South Carolina ETV featuring a story line on sickle cell anemia.
